Charlie L. Moore, 85, of LaGrange Township, passed away Tuesday, February 12, 2013, at EMH Healthcare, following a brief illness. He was born March 16, 1927 in Newton, Tennessee, and was a LaGrange area resident since 1950.
Charlie worked at the former General Motors Fisher Guide Plant in Elyria for 31 years, retiring in 1981. He bowled in leagues at the Brunswick Bowling Lanes on Center Ridge Rd. in North Ridgeville and enjoyed traveling and collecting coins.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Virginia (nee Layne); daughter, Carole (Will) Layne of LaGrange; sons, Charles (Marilyn) Moore of Sumter, South Carolina, and Jerry (Karen) Moore of Grafton; grandchildren, Steve Moore and Christina Layne; two great grandchildren, Brooke and Kalyn Moore; sisters, Berta Jackson of Dalton, Georgia, Carolyn VanWinkle and Bonnie VanWinkle, both of Spencer, Tennessee.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Ruby Stewart and Ruthie Morrison; and brothers, George “Alex”, William, Jimmy, and Doyle Moore.
The family will receive friends Friday, February 15, 2013, 4 to 7 P.M., at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. Services will be Saturday, February 16, 2013 at 11 A.M., in the funeral home. The Reverend Chuck Behrens, Chaplain of the Hospice of the Western Reserve, will officiate.
