Lorain police were sent to the scene of the accident at East 35th Street and Palm Avenue at 2:50 p.m. Witnesses said the driver of the red pick-up truck that caused the accident drove into a driveway in the 2200 block of East 35th Street.

Police met with a man who lived in the home, Gerald Muskiewicz Jr., 54, who denied driving the vehicle. Muskiewicz said he had been home for an hour drinking beer, but officers said Muskiewicz, who was intoxicated, matched the description of the driver involved in the crash.

Police said they spoke with Muskiewicz five minutes after the accident was reported.

Muskiewicz was arrested and transported to Lorain City Jail, where he declined to take a blood-alcohol test. He was charged with driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of an accident and failure to control.

Police said Muskiewicz had one prior DUI arrest in 1985.
