Nancy C. Kristosik (nee Leonard), 80, of Lorain, died Thursday, February 14, 2013, at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain. She was born August 17, 1932 in Elyria and had resided in Lorain since 1984.
Nancy was a 1950 graduate of Elyria High School. She was active in various local theater groups both onstage and behind the scenes from 1950-1980. She performed at the Lorain Palace Theater, Chef Henri Dinner Theater in Avon Lake, Mighty Goliath Players in Avon Lake, Black River Playhouse in Elyria and the Workshop Players in Amherst. Nancy also sang and played guitar with the Kitchen Kuties of the Salvation Army.
She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Lorain, where she sang in the church choir and served as a lector during mass. She was a member and past president of the St. Mary Women’s Guild and a chairperson of the Visitation Committee, where she brought communion to shut-ins at Lakeview Plaza. She helped children learn to read as part of the Title 1 program at St. Mary School and was active in tenant council at Lakeview Plaza, having served as president and treasurer and organizing birthday parties and bingo for the residents.
Nancy was an avid reader and loved to do jigsaw puzzles and crossword puzzles. Most of all, she enjoyed music, making people laugh and being a lector in church.
She is survived by her sons, Mark Kristosik of Elyria, Jonathan Bayard Kristosik of Lexington, Georgia and Joseph Kristosik of Aiken, South Carolina; and granddaughter, Megan Kristosik of Beech Island, South Carolina.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bayard and Virginia Leonard (nee LeDuc); and her maternal grandmother and guardian, Florence LeDuc.
Private family funeral services were held at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. Burial was in St. Mary Cemetery in Elyria.
