William M. “Bill” Soules, Sr.

William M. “Bill” Soules, Sr., 81, a lifelong resident of Elyria, passed away Sunday, February 17, 2013 at Wesleyan Village, following a short illness. He was born in Elyria on December 16, 1931.

Bill served in the U.S. Army and was employed at Brown-Fin Tube in Elyria as a machinist for over 32 years. In 1982 he opened “Sandy’s Gifts and Varieties” on Lake Avenue until 2000. He enjoyed visiting and talking with people and preparing taxes for 30 years.

Mr. Soules is survived by his son, Robert W. Soules (Debra) of Coolidge, Arizona and daughter, Sandra A. Miller (Mark) of Elyria; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ellen Joy Soules (nee Schmittle); son, William M. Soules, Jr.; parents, Roy and Elizabeth Soules (nee Huber); infant sister, Katherine Ann Soules.

Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M., Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at the Busch Funeral Home, 114 Second Street, Elyria. Funeral service will be 10:30 A.M., Thursday, February 21, 2013 at the funeral home. Deacon John Slatcoff of St. Vincent de Paul Church, will officiate. Interment will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst.
