Jennie L. Kohut

Jennie L. Kohut, 94, of Elyria, passed away Monday, February 18, 2013 at EMH Healthcare, surrounded by her family. She was born December 17, 1918 in Kipton, Ohio, to Anthony and Nancy Alferio.

She was a graduate of Camden High School and worked in the Food Service for Oberlin College for 25 years, retiring in 1982. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oberlin and The Alter Rosary Society. She enjoyed bowling in her early years and serving on the Oberlin Schools PTA.

She is survived by her son, Albert J. (Deborah) Kohut of Indianapolis, Indiana; daughters, Elizabeth (Stephen Bevan) Simonson of Elyria, Susan (Daniel) Murphy of Port Charlotte, Florida; 16 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren; sister, Josephine Pasadyn of Wellington.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony and Nancy Alferio; husband, Albert G. Kohut; and four brothers.

Visitation will be Thursday, February 21, 2013 from 6 to 8 P.M. at the Cowling Funeral Home in Oberlin. Funeral service will be at 10 A.M., Friday, February 22, 2013 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oberlin, with Father Robert J. Cole officiating. Interment will be at the Westwood Cemetery.
