Woman reports threatening note about Christmas lights

ELYRIA — A woman living on 15th Street had a run-in with an apparent Scrooge, who had issue with Christmas lights she kept up since the holidays.

The woman, Rosemary Oneal, turned a note into police Wednesday that she found in her mailbox. Oneal felt threatened by the note that asked her not-too-kindly to take her Christmas lights down, according to a police report.

The note read:

*NOTICE*

Please take your damn Christmas lights down. Christmas and New years have already passed and is no where near [sic]. I’m tired of seein’ that s—. Don’t make me tell you again. Thanks n—-.

Your black neighbors.”

Oneal told police she had no idea who may have written the letter, because she did not have problems with her neighbors. Police learned of one suspect, who had been kicked out of the woman’s home for drug use and was seen in the area.

The note was placed into evidence, and the woman was told to contact police if she saw anyone suspicious in the area.
