Alex S. Sakal

Alex S. Sakal, 88, of Elyria, died on Friday, February 22, 2012 at Ames Family Hospice Center in Westlake. Mr. Sakal was born on August 21, 1924 in Lorain, and lived in Elyria for 65 years.

He was retired from U.S Steel where he was an Electrical Electronics Repair Foreman for over 30 years. He served with the US Navy during WWII. He was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church, the VFW, Post 1079, the American Legion, Post 12, and the Lorain Senior Fellowship.

Mr. Sakal is survived by his wife of 65 years, Julia (nee Michowka) Sakal; one son, Paul Allen (Mary Jane) Sakal of Avon Lake, Ohio; two grandchildren, Sara Neuman and Jennifer Sakal; one great granddaughter, Anna Marie Neuman; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Esther (nee Czene) Sakal; four sisters; and two brothers.

Friends will be received at the Reichlin Roberts Funeral Home, 327 Cleveland Street, Elyria, on Monday, February 25, 2013 from 4 to 7 P.M. Closing prayers will be in the funeral home on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at 9:30 A.M. followed by Mass at 10 A.M. at St. Jude Church, 590 Poplar Street, Elyria, with the Reverend Father Frank P. Kosem, Pastor, officiating. Burial with full military honors will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio.
