James E. Tansey, Sr., 94, of Brownhelm Twp., died Thursday, February 21, 2013 at Norwalk Memorial Home after a short illness.
He is survived by his daughters, Martha (Bob) Foltz of Deshler and Teresa (Reid) Caldwell of Athens; son, James (Mary) Tansey, Jr. of Wakeman, Nelson (Dianne) Tansey of Kalamazoo, Michigan, and Martin (Suzanne) Tansey of Lorain; 17 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and brother, Michael Tansey of Wakeman.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Berneita L. (nee Ferber) Tansey in 2006; parents, Martin and Anna (nee Strehle) Tansey; sister, Margaret Shafts, and brothers, Frank, George, Charles and Robert Tansey.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street Vermilion Ohio where the Vermilion Veterans Council will conduct military honors at 7 P.M. Prayers will be said at the funeral home at 9 A.M. on Thursday, February 28, 2013 followed by a 9:30 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Catholic Church, 731 Exchange Street, Vermilion. The Reverend Ronald Brickner will officiate. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.
