Shirley A. Johnson (nee Nagy), 78, of Elyria, passed away unexpectedly at her residence, Saturday, February 23, 2013. She was born in Elyria on September 4, 1934 and was a life long Elyria resident.
Mrs. Johnson was a 1952 graduate of Elyria High School. She was retired from U-Haul in Elyria, where she worked as a clerk for many years. She and her late husband also owned and operated Paul’s Body Shop in Elyria for many years. Mrs. Johnson was a life long member of Magyar United Church of Christ in Elyria. She greatly enjoyed volunteering at Love-A-Stray cat shelter in Avon for over 10 years.
Mrs. Johnson is survived by one grandson, Brett Johnson of Florida; one sister, Rosemary Berg (Harry) of North Ridgeville; one niece, Terri Bacsi of Penfield Township; one nephew, Harry Berg Jr. (Nadine) of Medina; and by three great nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Johnson; by her son, Mark Johnson; by a nephew, Tim Berg; and by her parents, Sam and Rose (nee Daraby) Nagy.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, February 27, 2013, from 7 to 9 P.M., at the Liston Funeral Home, 36403 Center Ridge Road (at Stoney Ridge Road), North Ridgeville. A memorial service will be held Thursday, February 28, 2013, 11 A.M., at the funeral home. Reverend Alana Kelley, Pastor of Magyar United Church of Christ, will officiate. Burial will be at a later date at Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst Township.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Love-A-Stray Cat Shelter, 39104 Detroit Rd., Avon, OH 44011.
