Barbara Ann Dennison was born on April 13, 1928 in Chicago, Illinois, to William and Mildred Wales. She moved with her family to Denver and later to Greeley, Colorado where she attended the 1st through the 7th grades. The family then moved to Boise, Idaho, where she attended the 8th grade. They then moved to Eureka, California and she went to the 9th, 10th, and 11th grades, before moving to Elyria, where she graduated from Elyria High School in 1946. After high school, she attended the Oberlin School of Commerce in Oberlin, where she studied business. She was married on April 23, 1949 in St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Elyria, to Thomas W. Dennison and they made their home in Elyria, where she was a secretary in the Industrial Relations and Purchasing Department for The General Industries Company for 19 years. She and Tom also purchased a farm in Penfield Township. She retired for two years and was called back to employment with the LaGrange Screw Products Firm in LaGrange as a receptionist and was employed for 20 more years, retiring in 1988. Tom and Barb moved to Wyoming in 1989, where they retired and lived until the time of her death. Barb volunteered with the Lorain County Metro Park and was involved mainly with nature walks and the puppet program for grade school children. She is a member of the OCHO Club in Lorain County; she served as secretary for several years with the Buffalo Powder River Sno-Buff Club; she was secretary for the St. Francis Animal Shelter and volunteered working in the dog kennels. She enjoyed every day on their riverside farm in Ohio, as well as their home on Johnson Creek Road in Wyoming, observing the deer, antelope and in the spring seeing the newborn calves. She loved spending time in the Big Horn Mountains with her husband of 64 years, hunting, camping and snowmobiling. She enjoyed gardening, reading, photography, renewing friendships, travel in the United States and Europe and over the years, she especially loved her pets, who were a very important part of the family.
She is survived by her husband, Tom of Buffalo, Wyoming; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert and Nancy Dennison of Phoenix, Arizona; several nieces and nephews; and very good friends Bill, Joanie and Colin Coughlin of Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Martha Wales Flood; and one brother, Sherrill Wales.
Visitation will be held from the funeral home chapel on Friday, March 1, 2013, from 1 P.M. until 9 P.M. and Saturday, March 2, 2013, from 9 A.M. until 1 P.M. Funeral service will be held Saturday, 2 P.M., from the Adams Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Tom Saur officiating. A private family interment will be held in Willow Grove Cemetery in Buffalo, Wyoming.
