Gwendolyn Nutter Frashure

Our wife and mother, Gwen Frashure of Rupert, West Virginia, formerly of North Ridgeville, went to be with our Lord Thursday, February 28, 2013, at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center following a long illness. Born April 23, 1927 in Holden, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Okey and Lula Nutter.

Gwen was a registered nurse and worked many years for the Rupert Clinic with Drs. Klausman and Nunley. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a woman of great faith and a member of Bascom Methodist Church in Rupert and a lifetime member of the ladies of the Eastern Star. Everyone who knew Gwen loved and adored her, as she was such a caring and outgoing person and a wonderful friend to all.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Nutter.

Survivors include her husband, Lowell Frashure; daughter, Sheila (Jim) Mendicino; and son, Timothy (Lauri) Frashure; grandchildren, James (Elizabeth) Mendicino, Scott Mendicino, Anna Frashure and Ben Frashure. Great grandchildren are Bailey, Samantha, Caden and Evan. Gwen is also survived by a brother, Jack (Julia) Nutter; and sisters, Bonnie Pietrusza and Geneva Morton; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Sunday, March 3, 2013, at Smathers Funeral Home from 6 to 8 P.M. A funeral service will be held at 1 P.M., Monday, March 4, 2013, at Bascom Methodist Church in Rupert, West Virginia. The body will be placed in the church an hour before the service for final viewing. Burial will take place immediately after the service at Wallace and Wallace Cemetery in Clintonville.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Bascom Methodist Church in Rupert, or the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
