Police recovered thousands of dollars worth of tools and construction equipment along with two ATVs and two vehicles, all of which are believed to have been stolen from garages and vehicles on the city’s west and south sides, detective Jake Morris said.
Richard Glasen Jr., 41, was arrested at his Lorain home on a warrant for missing a court date, Morris said, but has yet to be charged in relation to the stolen items.
“There was a bunch of stolen property in his residence, and we ended up recovering a lot more,” Morris said.
Morris said police had received numerous reports of a guy on an ATV breaking into garages and stealing items, but that the man was always able to flee before police arrived.
Morris said the stolen property was recovered at several homes around Lorain, but he didn’t expect anyone else to face charges, at least at first.
“We’re not 100 percent sure on how he got rid of it,” Morris said when asked if he suspected Glasen had sold the items or given them to friends.
“We’re going to go over the property and find out what belongs where,” Morris said, “but we believe it can all be attributed to one suspect.”
