Mary was a 1944 graduate of Elyria High School and moved to Lorain in 1976. Mary was formerly employed at Colson Corporation, Lake Erie Plastics, Empire Springs and Elyria Plating. She was then employed for 13 years at Smith and Jones (Tappan) in Elyria, retiring as a time keeper when the plant closed in 1981. She was a lifetime member of the DAV Auxiliary Louis Proy # 20. Mary loved to laugh and enjoyed helping and laminating articles for people. Other interests included, crocheting “Forever Hug” afghans, reading and working crossword puzzles and word finds.
Mary is survived by her husband of 36 years, John Dan; son, Scott M. Singleton of Elyria; nephews, Mike and Steve Lottman; and a niece, Linda Baron. Mrs. Dan is also survived by friends and caregivers, Joyce Weimer, Celeste and Uland Ralston and Jim Pember.
She was preceded in death by her father, Clare E. Parker, in 1956; mother, Ruth I. Fillo, in 1987; and a sister, Jane Lottman, in 2005.
Friends will be received Sunday, March 3, 2013, from 3 to 6 P.M., at Dicken Funeral Home, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria. A funeral service will be Monday, March 4, 2013, at 11 A.M., in the funeral home, with Reverend Christopher D. Robinson, Chaplin of New Life Hospice, officiating. Burial will be in Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria.
