Joseph Grzywna, 92, passed away the evening of Sunday, March 3, 2013, at Briarfield At Ashley Place. Joseph was born February 13, 1921, in Radziecin, Lublin District, Poland, Europe, son of Francis and Helena Grzywna.
Joseph came to the United States in 1949. He settled in Youngstown and was employed by Ajax Magnethermic, retiring in 1981. He was a longtime member of St. Stanislaus Church, where he was also a member of the Polish choir. He also belonged to Polish National Alliance Group 827.
Joseph is survived by his sons, Wesley (Susie) Grzywna of Cortland, Joseph (Zena) Grzywna, Jr. of Philadelphia, Stanley (Betty) Grzywna of Elyria and Steve Grzywna of Poland; and his eight grandchildren, Brian and Heather Sabo, Jason, Jarred and Jillian Grzywna, Sarah and Laura Grzywna, and Alexandra Grzywna.
Joseph was preceded in death in 2009 by his wife, Stephanie Grzywna, whom he married May 20, 1947, and shared 62 years of marriage; his daughter, Irene Sabo; sister-in-law, Janina Karniewicz; three brothers and two sisters in Poland.
Friends may call Sunday, March 10, 2013, at Kubina-Yuhasz-Wasko Funeral Home, 5925 Market St., Boardman, from 3:30 to 6 P.M., where a combined prayer service will be held by the Infant Jesus of Prague Guild and the Altar and Rosary Sodality at 3:15 P.M. Funeral service will be held Monday, March 11, 2013, at 9:30 A.M. at the Kubina-Yuhasz-Wasko Funeral Home, with a Mass of Christian Burial following at 10 A.M. at St. Stanislaus Church, 430 Williamson Ave., Youngstown, celebrated by the Reverend Edward Neroda. Interment will take place at Resurrection Cemetery.
