Sheryl L. Black

Sheryl L. Black, 56, and a resident of South Amherst, died at her residence Saturday, March 2, 2013. Sheryl was born in Amherst, November 26, 1956, to the late Don and Alberta (nee Becker) Black.

She was a 1975 graduate of Firelands High School. For the past 25 years, Sheryl was employed in the Maintenance Department of the Firelands School System. Sheryl researched her family genealogy and enjoyed sharing her family history and stories with people. She loved spending time with her family and friends and going on little trips with them. Being interested in art, Sheryl studied art and liked to share her knowledge of art with friends. Sheryl herself was a very artistic person, and this was reflected in her beautiful home and her personality. She loved to smile and laugh.

She is survived by her brother, David M. (Kim) Black of Chesapeake, Virginia; two nephews, Kevin and Adam Black of Virginia; her cousin, Dwayne (Jennifer) Becker of Wakeman; and aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Please join family and friends for her burial 11 A.M. Saturday, March 9, 2013, at Rugby Cemetery, North Ridge Road, Vermilion. Pastor Chuck Livermore of Kipton Community Church will officiate. A celebration of her life will follow the commital at Henrietta Township Hall, 10413 Vermilion Road, Oberlin. All are invited to attend.

Sheryl’s family asks that any memorial donations be made to benefit Fireland’s Student Scholarship funds. Please make any checks payable to Firelands Schools Endowment Fund, 112 North Lake St., South Amherst, OH 44001-2824.
