She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church for more than 58 years, and was also a member of USW Local 1104, having worked for U.S. Steel as a relief foreman and retiring after 38 years of service.
Dorothy loved giving back to the community and volunteered for 48 years at Mercy Regional Medical Center, serving on the Volunteer Auxiliary Board and often volunteering in the Gift Shop. She was also a volunteer for 17 years at the Catholic Charities Family Center in Downtown Lorain.
She will be sadly missed by her three children, Sharon Snell of Mt. Vernon New York, Gregory Searight of Amherst, and Larry Searight of Palmdale, California; three grandchildren, Sean Searight of California, Beau Snell and Jada Snell, both of New York; five great grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
Dorothy was preceded in death by a son, Theodore Searight; her parents, Marion and Myron “Myra” Wootten; and a brother, Charles Wootten.
Visitation will be held Monday, March 11, 2013 from 2 to 5 P.M. at Brown-Robinson Funeral Home, 2652 Broadway Ave., Lorain, 44052. A Mass will be held Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at 10 A.M. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 309 W. 7th St., Lorain, 44052, with Father Divis officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
