LORAIN — Two Lorain schools were on lockdown this morning after reports of shots fired nearby but have now been taken out of lockdown.
Superintendent Tom Tucker said General Johnnie Wilson Middle School and Washington Elementary School were placed on lockdown at the advice of Lorain police. That lockdown has since been lifted, according to Chronicle photographer Bruce Bishop who responded to the scene shortly after.
According to scanner traffic, officers had been pursuing a subject after an incident that originated at or near Hometown Market, at West 22nd Street and Beech Ave.
Lorain police Lt. Rodger Watkins confirmed the schools were no longer on lockdown, but said he couldn’t provide further specifics at this time.
