Charles Ray entered into rest Tuesday, March 12, 2013, in Evans, Georgia, where he was currently residing. He was born in Roxana, Illinois. Mr. Ray was a graduate of Collinsville Township High School, and received his Industrial Engineering Degree from Washington University in St. Louis.
He honorably served in the U.S. Army from March 1946 to November 1949. While on Active duty, Sergeant Ray served in Japan as a paratrooper with 11th Airborne Div.
Mr. Ray was an active member of the Grand Lodge of Mississippi, Scottish Rite, Knights Tempar and AL CHYMIA Shrine in Memphis, Tennessee. He was a retired Executive Vice President of Manufacturing of Emerson Electric.
Charles is survived by his loving wife, Mary Delores Ray; a daughter, Sandra Ray; son-in-law, George Ingram of Humble, Texas; son, Dr. Curt Ray; daughter-in-law, Dr. Melissa Ray of Modoc of South Carolina; two grandchildren, Jared and Carly Ray; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Percy Ray and Eva “Adel” Ray; and brothers, John Ray, Harold Ray and James Ray.
Burial will be at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Milledgeville, Georgia.
