Kathleen Simmons, of Elyria, passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2013. She was born May 15, 1935 in Nashville, Tennessee, to Bill and Estella (Warren) Simmons. She moved to Elyria in 1945, and attended and graduated from Elyria City Schools.
Kathleen was employed at Elyria Memorial Hospital, until retiring in 2000. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, gardening, and laughing with family and friends.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Dovie (Carl) Simmons of Elyria; nieces, Ché (José) González and Deborah Scott of Oberlin, and Tina Robinson of Kokomo Indiana; nephews, Dr. Luther (Sandra) Robinson of Lancaster, New York, Landry (Diane) Simmons, Sr., Minister Michael D. (Robyn) Acklin, Sr. of Akron, Hugh (Jackie) Johnson of Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee; and a host of other nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Estella Simmons; siblings, Nanalee Johnson, Carl Simmons, Jean Robinson, Adele Acklin, and Lawrence Simmons; and nephew, Kevin Simmons.
Friends may call Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at 10 A.M., until time of service at 11 A.M., in the Carter Funeral Home Chapel, 127 West Bridge St., Elyria. Dr. Luther K. Robinson, Jr. will give words of comfort. Burial will be in Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria.
