Lundy to run for commissioner in 2014

ELYRIA — State Rep. Matt Lundy, D-Elyria, has announced that he will run for Lorain County commissioner next year.

Lundy is the first Democrat to declare his intentions to seek the seat currently held by county Commissioner Tom Williams, the lone Republican on the three-member board. Williams defeated former state Rep. Joe Koziura, D-Lorain, in 2010 in the race to replace then-county Commissioner Betty Blair.

Lundy, who is serving his fourth term in Columbus, is barred by term limits from running for another two-year term.

“We are only a little more than a year out from the 2014 primary,” Lundy said in a news release. “We have a lot of work to do to build a strong team to win in a very big county. We must win in May to compete in November.
