Jack E. Law, 77, a resident of South Amherst, passed away Monday, March 18, 2013, at New Life Hospice Center in Lorain, following a long illness. He was born April 29, 1935 in Elyria. Jack was a lifetime resident of South Amherst, and was a graduate of South Amherst High School.
Jack was employed at Ford Motor Company for 32 years retiring as an auditor. He was also a member of the South Amherst fire department. Jack was a former member of First Congregational Church in South Amherst. In 1996, Jack was honored to serve as a security guard for the Summer Olympics held in Atlanta, Georgia. He was active with the Boy Scouts and in 2004 received his 50 year award. He belonged to the Scouting “Over The Hill Gang” that volunteered their time with camp maintenance at Firelands Boy Scout Camp, where he had served as a former camp master. Jack loved spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Sandra L. Law (nee Powers); sons, Scott A. Law and his wife, Faith of Wellsburg, West Virginia, Frank Law of Dunedin, Florida; daughters, Doralee Law of St. Petersburg, Florida, Beth Sanders and her husband, Larry of Wakeman; grandchildren, Ryan and Blake Sanders, Scott, Rachel and Rebecca Law; his brothers, Larry Law and his wife, Shirley of Vermilion and Tom Mathes of LaGrange.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Viola Law (nee Rosenthal).
Friends may call Thursday, March 21, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral service will be held Friday, March 22, 2013 at 11 A.M. from the funeral home. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, South Amherst.
