Woman charged after apparent early-morning rollover crash

AMHERST TWP. — A Lorain woman has been charged after a rollover crash overnight on West Ridge Road, according to the State Highway Patrol.

According to Trooper Jovito Cirilo, Sara Neal, 25, was driving north on West Ridge near Middle Ridge Road in a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee when she went off the right side of the road and rolled her vehicle several times, ending up about 200 feet from the road.

Cirilo said Neal told troopers the accident happened about 6 a.m. but that she went home and returned to the scene with a family member about 8:45 a.m., which is when the Highway Patrol was dispatched.

Neal told troopers she swerved to avoid a deer, but they determined she was under the influence of alcohol, Cirilo said. Neal was charged with failure to control and driving under the influence, he said.

Neal was taken to Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain for facial injuries, Cirilo said. A hospital spokeswoman said she was treated and released.
