Lula Belle Reese (Hough), 93, of Lorain, passed away Monday, March 25, 2013, at the New Life Hospice Center in Lorain, following a lengthy illness. She was born February 15, 1920, in Woodland, Georgia, and moved to this area in 1950.
She was a member of Second Baptist Church of Lorain, where she formerly served as Vice President of the Sr. Fellowship Ministry, was a faithful member of the Missionary Society, sang in the Sr. Choir for many years, served in the Nurses’ Guild and worked diligently on the Kitchen Committee. She was a member of the Naomi Chapter #25 O.E.S. which formerly was Judea #1 Chapter of Lorain. She humbly received a “Proclamation from the Mayor” claiming July 21, 2012 as “Lula B. Reese Day!” Lula was known for loving to cook and no one was a stranger in her kitchen. Family says she cooked for folks from here to China and loved every second of it!
She is survived by six children, Larry (Hester) Hough of Jonesboro Georgia, Lester Reese, Lonnie Reese, James Lee Hough Jr., Diane Fenderson and Sandra Reese Kimmey, all of Lorain; 10 grandchildren; and a host of great and great great grandchildren; a loving niece, who was like a daughter, Martha Sue Pye; other nieces, nephews, loving relatives and friends.
Lula was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Reese; her parents, James Lee and Alberta C. Hough Sr.; five brothers, Jimmy, Charles, Thomas, Alden and Lawrence Hough; three sisters, Elizabeth “Liz” Parker, Sally Miller and Estella Hardnett.
Visitation will be held Monday, April 1, 2013, from 7 to 9 P.M., and funeral services will be Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at 11 A.M., both at Second Baptist Church, 300 W. 13th St., Lorain, where Reverend Loversier Lewis is the Pastor. Apostle Terrance Bivins, of Worship Cathedral, is officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain.
