Maxine Brown (Searight), 86, of Wakeman, died on Friday, March 29, 2013 at her home. She was born on March 19, 1927 in New London, and had lived in the Clarksfield-Wakeman area her entire life.
She was a 1945 graduate of New London High School. She worked as a Teacher’s Assistant for the Erie-Huron-Ottawa ESC for 18 years. She was a member of the Norwalk Moose #239, the Norwalk Eagles #711, the Norwalk American Legion Post #41, and the New London VFW Post 4654. Maxine was the impetus behind and organizer of the Wakeman Eagles Aerie 4354, where she served on various committees and was made an honorary member. She served on Village Council and was an active member of the Wakeman Congregational UCC.
She is survived by her daughter, Sue (Jim) Bommer of Wakeman; a brother, Ron (Denise) Searight of Clarksfield; her grandchildren, John (April) Prindle and Jennifer (Donald) Fox; great grandchildren, Amanda Thorpe and Claire Fox; a great great grandson, Jaxon; numerous nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Annie.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James L. Brown; son, Patrick Prindle; parents, Daniel and Bessie (Stone) Searight; a sister, Zella Kohler; and brothers, Leland, Kenneth, Robert, Lawrence, William, Donald, Richard, and Raymond.
Friends may call on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 from 5 to 8 P.M. at the Morman Funeral Home, 16 Cooper St., Wakeman, where service will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2013 at 11 A.M. Sister Carroll Schemenauer will officiate. Burial will follow at Clarksfield Methodist Cemetery on Zenobia Rd.
