4-year-old burned in Lorain fire has died

LORAIN — The 4-year-old who received second- to third-degree burns in a Lorain house fire has died, according to a hospital spokeswoman.

Nasire King died at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland after he spent more than a week at the hospital in critical condition.

King received burns on 90 percent of his body after a sibling set fire to a blanket he was sleeping on at his home on West 19th Street.

A fund for Nasire King’s family was set up at First Federal Bank on Oberlin Road in Lorain. Anyone wishing to make a donation to the family can do so at any First Federal Bank in Lorain to the King Family Benefit Fund, according to Brian Reinhardt, vice president of the Toni Morrison Elementary Parent Teacher Organization.

An “Old School” skate session will also be from 6 to 9 p.m. tonight at Skate World. Food items will be collected during the night for the King family.
