It’s official: Garbage collectors are back at work, trash collection delayed by a day

CARLISLE TWP. — Republic Waste workers are back on the job today after refusing to cross the picket line Monday.

Members of Teamsters Local 20, which represents Republic workers in Lorain County, joined Local 377 in a sympathy strike. The Youngstown-area union has been on strike since last week in a dispute over what union officials described as unfair labor practices by Republic.

Trash went largely uncollected in the areas of Lorain, Medina and Cuyahoga counties serviced by Republic on Monday and the company has delayed regularly scheduled trash collection by a day for the rest of the week in the area.
