Roger Cline, 70, and a resident of Elyria, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, April 4, 2013 at University Hospital in Cleveland. He was born August 27, 1942 in Logan County, West Virginia. Roger was raised in Verner, West Virginia, before moving to Cleveland in 1964. He had made his home in Elyria for the last 23 years.
He was employed at LTV Steel for 36 years before retiring in 2000. Roger was an active member of Midway Baptist Church in Elyria. He had a servant’s heart and loved helping with the annual church cleaning day. Roger loved restoring historical cars and attending the local car shows. He was an avid bowler and was on the church league and the steel mill league where he achieved the highest average during one league season for his team. Roger loved playing and watching sports.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Abby Cline (nee Browning); son, Gregory Scott Cline of Cleveland; and his brother, Gary Cline of Davan, West Virginia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Denny and Vicie Cline (nee Lester).
Friends may call Sunday, April 7, 2013 from 4 to 8 P.M. at the Midway Baptist Church, 41821 Griswold Road, Elyria. Additional calling hours will be held Monday, April 8, 2013 at 9 A.M. until the time of the funeral service at 10 A.M. at Midway Baptist Church. The Rev. Charles Keesee, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memory Garden, Avon.
