SHEFFIELD TWP. — The unlicensed driver involved in Saturday’s crash into the Broadway Assembly Church at 5495 Broadway has a history of dangerous driving and driving violations.

Jose A. Guerra had limited driving privileges when he crashed a Ford Fusion with six children into a church classroom, according to court records.

His driver’s license was invalid, according to the Ohio Highway Patrol. Guerra’s driving record includes convictions for speeding, driving with a suspended license, and two convictions for driving without a license.

No one in the church was hurt and Guerra and the children were treated and released from MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland.

Guerra, 26, of the 200 block of West 38th Street in Lorain, had not been charged Sunday, but the crash remains under investigation, according to Sgt. Paul March, a supervisor at the patrol’s Elyria post.
