Karen Sue Carpenter (Zirkle), 72, of Litchfield, passed away Saturday, April 6, 2013 in Medina. She was born June 8, 1940 in Webster Springs, West Virginia, to the late Dexter S. and Grace P. (Mace) Zirkle.
She retired from Permold Manufacturing in Medina as a finishing inspector. Karen enjoyed yard sales, loved listening to her husband Jim play and sing bluegrass music and, above all else, spending time with her family.
Karen is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Willard “Jim”; dear children, Kathy Carpenter, James (Marsha) Carpenter, John (Kari) Carpenter and Kristine (Robert Sr.) Bowersock; loving grandchildren, Kristine, Antoine, Mary Beth, Westly, Chelsie, Cory, Billy, Cody, Tiffany “Sissy”, Sonja, Robert Jr. “Boberts” and Tina “Be-Bop”; eight great grandchildren; one great great grandson; her siblings, Bob (Louise) Zirkle, Betty (Ed) Arthur, Tom (Donna Jean) Zirkle and Donna (Bill) Nottingham and her sister-in-law, Ruth Zirkle.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Harold “Jack”, Skip and Johnnie Dale Zirkle; and her sisters, JoAnn Carpenter and Marlene Arthur.
Service will be 11 A.M., Thursday, April 11, 2013 at Waite & Son Funeral Home, 765 N. Court St., Medina. Burial will follow at Litchfield Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M., Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
