She was a graduate of Lorain High School as a member of the class of 1944-B. She went on to attend Kent State University, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1972. She subsequently completed graduate work at Bowling Green State University, Baldwin Wallace College and The Ohio State University.
Marcella retired from the Avon Lake City Schools in July 1994, where she had served as Treasurer. She had previously been employed in the same capacity by both the Amherst Exempted Village School District and the Sheffield-Sheffield Lake City Schools.
She was a past member of School Business Officials International, as well as a member of both the Ohio School Business Officials and the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Mrs. Ridenour was an active parishioner of St. Francis Xavier Cabrini Parish (formerly St. John the Baptist Catholic Church) in Lorain, where she was a member and former officer of the Altar and Rosary Society, served on the parish finance committee, and was an officer for the St. John Endowment Fund. She was also a member and former secretary of St. Ann ’s Lodge Branch 114 of the First Slovak Catholic Ladies Association. In addition, she volunteered for the AARP where she completed federal and state income tax returns for seniors and low income individuals. In her free time she enjoyed crocheting hats for Our Lady of the Wayside Home in Avon. She also volunteered at the Avon Lake Library Shop.
Survivors include her son, Robert D. Ridenour (wife Judy); grandchildren, Brittany, Blaine, Nathan, Christa, Wendy, Anthony; great grandchildren, Zachary, Ashlyn, Matthew and Anthony James; along with sisters, Regina Davies and Betty J. Ward; and former daughter-in-law, Debra Ridenour.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clee R. Ridenour, Sr. in 2008; son, Clee R. Ridenour, Jr.; parents, George and Mary Ellen (Doslak) Yasher; and by brothers, Regis and George Yasher.
Visitation will be Monday, April 8, 2013 from 3 to 7 P.M. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. The St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Altar & Rosary Society will recite the Rosary there at 5 P.M. Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 9, 2013 beginning with closing prayers offered in the funeral chapel at 10 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 A.M. in St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Parish, 2143 Homewood Drive. Reverend John C. Retar, Pastor of the parish will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst Township.
