Andrew L. “Butch” Lute

Andrew L. “Butch” Lute, 69, a resident of Amherst, passed away Thursday, April 4, 2013, at New Life Hospice Residential Center in Lorain, following a sudden illness. He was born April 9, 1943 in Lorain.

Andrew was raised in Lorain before moving to Amherst in 1970, where he had made his home for the last 43 years. Andrew proudly served in the United States Army, stationed in Germany, he served as a mechanic and a tank driver. He was a jack of many trades, he worked as a welder, construction, and factory worker, as well as driving long distance trucking. His hobbies included fishing, gardening, and in his younger years enjoyed communication with his CB radio. Andrew enjoyed imagining creative solutions to everyday problems.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Gloria Jean Lute (nee Rhodes); his son and his wife, John and Janneth Lute of Columbus; daughter, Sherri Lute of Malakoff, Texas; grandchildren, Samantha, Elizabeth, Anna, Jackie, Cristian, Key and Jason; and five great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, William, Robert, Samuel and Lawrence; his sister, Millicent Bertram; and by his parents, Andrew William and Anna Lute (nee Vignovich).

Friends may call Friday, April 12, 2013, from 4 P.M., until the time of the funeral at 6 P.M., at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst.
