Spencer A. Hamlin, Sr., 56, of Lorain, passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at Mercy Regional Medical Center, after a lengthy illness. He was born February 2, 1957 in Oberlin, to Paul and Edna Mae Hamlin and attended Oberlin City Schools.
He loved old school music and played bass guitar in his band “Versatile”. He was very well known for helping people and liked making people laugh and telling stories. His hobbies and interests included fishing, boxing, motorcycles, CB radio, and car repair.
Spencer will be sadly missed by his wife of 32 years, Delora (Brown) Hamlin; two sons, Spencer A. Hamlin, Jr. and Juan Hamlin; daughter, Savanna Hamlin, all of Lorain; sister, Patricia Hamlin; brother, Dean Scott Hamlin; 10 grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Alasa M. Hamlin; parents, Paul H. and Edna M. Hamlin; and brother, Michael Paul Hamlin.
Visitation will be held Friday, April 12, 2013 from 10 A.M. until time of funeral service at 12 Noon at Living Word Church, 658 E. Erie Ave., Lorain, with Pastor Tondie Vilyus of True Praise & Deliverance Ministry of Oberlin as the eulogist. Burial will be in Westwood Cemetery, Oberlin.
