Lorain woman arrested, accused of biting boyfriend’s ear

ELYRIA — A Lorain woman is accused of biting a piece of her boyfriend’s ear off Saturday.

Plato

Police said 24-year-old Ashley Plato was with her boyfriend, Shawn Lane, 38, at a friend’s apartment when the incident occurred. According to Lane, he and Plato were drinking alcohol and watching television when he fell asleep. Lane said he awoke to find Plato on top of him, and Plato bit his ear and arm.

Lane’s friend, Tom Stone, drove Lane to the hospital. He told police he heard Plato and Lane talking and laughing in the other room, when Lane’s daughter came to him and told him her father was bleeding. Lane said he asked Plato what happened, and she responded, “I bit his (expletive) ear off.”

Lane had a bite mark to his left arm and a piece of his ear was hanging off, according to a police report.

Plato was arrested and charged with felonious assault. She was arraigned today (Wednesday) at Elyria Municipal Court, where she entered no plea to the charge.

Plato was ordered to stay away from Lane, and a preliminary hearing was set for 2 p.m. April 15 before Judge Lisa A. Locke Graves.

According to Lane, Plato is bipolar and was off her medication during the alleged attack.
