GRAFTON — A Grafton man died at the scene of a crash around 2:10 p.m. Thursday on Mennell Road just south of Haystack Lane, about a half-mile from state Route 303.

Michael Vandrasik was southbound in a Ford F-150 pickup that veered left off the road and struck a tree, according to Trooper Joran Cottom of the Ohio Highway Patrol’s Elyria post. Cottom said he didn’t know what caused Vandrasik, 46, of the 36000 block of state Route 57, to crash.

There appeared to be no skid marks at the scene indicating Vandrasik didn’t brake before crashing, troopers said. There were no witnesses to the accident, and Vandrasik was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, troopers said.

Lorain County Coroner Stephen Evans said Vandrasik was a diabetic and the coroner’s office is investigating whether a medical condition might have caused the crash. The preliminary cause of death is blunt force trauma.
