Joann Jones (nee Sharp), 76, of Elyria, went home to be with the Lord Friday, April 19, 2013 after a brief illness. She was born April 16, 1937 in Atlanta, Georgia, to George and Ruth (nee Smith) Sharp.
Joann attended the M.B. Johnson School of Nursing, Elyria. Joann worked as an LPN Nurse for over 35 years at EMH, The United Methodist Home, now Wesleyan Village, and Golden Acres Nursing Home, retiring in 1999. She enjoyed watching sports, especially college football and basketball, shopping, traveling and spending time with her family. She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Elyria.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 53 years, Donald E. Jones; daughter, Kimberly D. Jones Beal (Michael) of Elyria; and son, Glenn D. Jones, also of Elyria; sisters, Joyce Bullocks of Hanover, Illinois, Audrey Sharp of Austin, Texas; brothers, Leonard Sharpe (Carrie) of Oberlin, Arthur Jones of Novi, Michigan, Douglas Jones (Stephanie) of Rolling Meadows, Illinois and John Jones of Elgin, Illinois; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Ruth Sharp; sister, Ruth Smith (Tracey); brother, Mitchell Sharp; and special Aunt, Nell Smith.
Funeral Service will be held Friday, April 26, 2013, 11 A.M., at Asbury United Methodist Church, 1611 Middle Avenue, Elyria, with Reverend Monique Greenfield officiating. Burial will be at Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria. Friends may call at the Busch Funeral Home, 114 Second Street, Elyria, Thursday, April 25, 2013, from 4 until 8 P.M., and Friday, from 10 until 11 A.M., at the church.
