Elaine M. Petty (nee Black) 84, of Grafton passed away Sunday, April 28, 2013 at New Life Hospice of St. Joseph in Lorain following a short illness. She was born May 13, 1928 in Toledo. Elaine was a registered pharmacist, she established the pharmacy at Elyria Memorial Hospital, and had also worked at Allen Memorial Hospital in Oberlin. She was an avid bridge player, a talented seamstress. Elaine also enjoyed time at the family cottage on Lake Erie.
Survivors include her husband of 61 years, LLoyd H. who she married September 1, 1951. Additional survivors include three sons, Roger (Gail) of Carlsbad, California, James (Cheryl) of Columbia Station, Keith (Kelly) of Grafton; three grandchildren, Julie, Scott and Mikel Petty.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert E. and Marie (nee Schultz) Black; and a sister, Phyllis Larsen.
Memorial Service will be at 7 P.M. Wednesday May 1, 2013 at The Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57) Elyria (440) 322-4626 where the family will receive friends from 6 P.M. Wednesday until time of service. Burial will be private at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions in Elaine’s memory be sent to the charity of the donor’s choice.
