George J. Rauscher, 85, of Haines City, Florida, and formerly of Grafton, passed away Friday, April 26, 2013 in Winter Haven Hospital, after a short illness. He was born October 26, 1927 in Strongsville, living in Grafton until 1955 before moving to Conneautville, Pennsylvania, and finally retiring to Florida in 2000.
He was formerly employed by Brown Finn Tube and was a self employed farmer. He was also the owner operator of the Dairy Isle in Linesville, Pennsylvania for 34 years. Mr. Rauscher served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was an avid coon hunter, fisherman and enjoyed Cleveland Sports.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Carol ( nee Reynolds); sons, Thomas (Joyce) of Linesville, Pennsylvania, James (Debby) of Conneautsville, Pennsylvania, Sonny (Kathleen) of Linesville, Pennsylvania, and special daughter, Kimberly Rauscher Petroka. Survivors also include five grandchilren; five great grandchildren; sister, Marge Boley of Grafton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Regina Rauscher; brother, Anthony Rauscher; and sisters, Jean Lawson and Gerry Tablett.
Friends may call in the Blackburn Duke Funeral Home, 1021 Main St., Grafton, on Friday, May 3, 2013 from 5 to 8 P.M. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 A.M. in the Our Lady Queen of Peace Chapel, 708 Erie St., Grafton, with Rev. John Seabold officiating. Burial will be in Belden Cemetery, Grafton Township.
