Teen gets warning after prank text about homicide

COLUMBIA STATION — Officers were sent to a Columbia Station home after a report from an Oregon police department that a resident had received a text message that read, “I just killed someone. What do I do with the body?”

The Lancaster Police Department tracked the message to a cell phone user who lives on Osborne Road in Columbia Station.

Lorain County Sheriff’s deputies went to the home Sunday afternoon and spoke with the residents who said the phone was being used by their 13-year-old son.

The boy first denied sending the text message, but he later said he did so as a prank.

Officers did not charge the boy, as he was ill, according to his parents, but they warned him he could have been charged with inducing panic for the prank.

The boy’s parents said they would discipline their child.
