SOUTH AMHERST — State troopers and units from the South Amherst Fire Department were investigating reports of a late-night collision between a vehicle and a horse on Quarry Road.
The Elyria post of the Ohio Highway Patrol received a call of a car striking a horse in the roadway about 10:15 p.m., according to a dispatcher.
The crash was said to have occurred on Quarry Road, south of Russia Road.
The post had no details about the crash, including injuries to any occupants of the car or to the animal involved.
South Amherst Fire Department sources also had no information as of 11 p.m. Saturday.
A subsequent call from the fire department heard over police scanners said that a number of other horses had reportedly been in the area of the accident and were running off in the area of Quarry Road.
