Jeffrey L. Ignatz

Jeffrey L. Ignatz, 67, of Elyria, died Friday, May 3, 2013, at the Cleveland Clinic. He was born September 24, 1945 in Elyria.

Jeff was a 1963 graduate of Elyria High School and served with the United States Army as an M.P. in Korea. He graduated from Bowling Green State University with a bachelor degree in education and from Kent State University with a masters degree in education. He taught in the Elyria School System at Northwood, Elyria West, Westwood and Eastern Heights, where he was assistant principal, football and basketball coach, retiring in 1997.

After retiring, he worked part time at Elyria Hardware. Jeff was a member of Elyria Elks Lodge #465 and enjoyed golf and bowling.

Jeff is survived by his wife, Denise (nee Heredos); daughter, Rochelle Ignatz Frommeyer (Jon-Michael) of North Ridgeville; son, Bryan S. Ignatz (Chrystal Corso) of Raleigh, North Carolina; stepdaughter, Stacy Goodspeed (Gregg); stepsons, Brian Robinson (Sarah) and Christopher Brooks (Suzanne), all of Elyria; step grandchildren, Emilee, Jackson, Benjamin, Madelyn, Grace, Samantha, Kaitlyn, Joseph and Dominic.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Rita T. (nee DeMaria) in 1988; and parents, Nick and Margaret Ignatz.

Friends will be received Monday, May 6, 2013, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M., at Dicken Funeral Home, 323 Middle Ave., Elyria, where Elyria Elks Lodge will conduct a service Monday at 8: P.M. A funeral service will be Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at 11 A.M., at Magyar United Church of Christ, 6119 West River Road South, Elyria, with Reverend Alana Kelley officiating. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
