Reverend Johnny Franklin Gray

Reverend Johnny Franklin Gray, 69, of Lorain, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, May 1, 2013, in the Medina Hospital.

He was from Welch, West Virginia, coming to Cleveland at the age of 14 years old. He attended East High School in Cleveland. Reverend Gray received his Bachelor’s Degree in Theology from New Foundation Theology Seminary in 2008 and Master Degree in Divinity in 2010 from Foundation of Hope Theological Seminary. Reverend Gray was employed for the City of Painesville, with the street department, and parts and Cemetery department. He also was involved with Cub Scouts in Painesville, and a coach for St. John’s Baptist Church Baseball team of Painesville.

Reverend Gray served as usher, head usher and deacon at St. John Baptist Church in Painesville. Reverend Gray was ordained as a minister at St. Jude Church of God in Christ, in Cleveland, November of 1996 and was Spiritual advisor for the Inmates at the Lake County Correctional Facility.

He survived by his wife, Reverend Juanita J. Gray of Lorain; four sons, Keith, Shannon, and Devron, Dustin; two daughters, Kerrell, and Naomi; 19 grandchildren; three great gandchildren; brother, Jimmie Lewis; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Mary Gray; sister, Gaylvania McSears; brothers, Jerome and Micheal Gray.

Friends may call Wednesday, May 8, 2013, 10 A.M., until the time of service at 12 P.M., in the Second Baptist Church, 427 Chapman Lane, (16th St.), Elyria. Reverend Carl P. Small will officiate. Burial will be in Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria.
