Police arrest man for alleged robbery

LORAIN — A Lorain man is accused of robbing another man in a parking lot adjacent to 2244 E. 28th St., around 2:20 a.m. Saturday.


Darrell J. Jones is accused of punching a man in the face and stealing $100 and car keys from the man, according to police a police report. The man said he had been standing outside a bar when a man approached him and asked if he wanted to buy cocaine. The man said he refused and started to walk away when he was punched and knocked to the ground. He said his attacker went through his pockets and stole a $100 bill before driving off in a brown Lincoln.

Jones was stopped in a brown Lincoln near East 28th Street and Pearl Avenue shortly after the incident, and a $100 bill, car keys and a small amount of cocaine were found on him, according to the report. The alleged victim identified Jones as his attacker.

Jones, 42, of the 3200 block of Livingston Avenue, was arrested and charged with robbery, possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance. Jones was being held without bond Sunday at the Lorain City Jail and is due in Lorain Municipal Court today.
