Independents file for November ballot

SHEFFIELD TWP. — Independent Elyria City Councilman Mark Craig has filed to run for another term representing the city’s 4th Ward and will be unopposed in the November general election.

Monday was the deadline to file as an independent for November.

Although Craig’s filing virtually guarantees his re-election, three other independents who also will appear on the November ballot will face opposition.

In Lorain’s 4th Ward, independent Gregory Argenti will face Democrat Roberta DiFilippo, who is running unopposed in today’s Democratic primary. They are vying to replace Councilman Bret Schuster, who isn’t seeking re-election.

In the 8th Ward in Lorain, Joshua Thornsberry has filed to run as an independent against Councilman Frank DeTillio, a Democrat who replaced former Councilman Craig Snodgrass, who is now Lorain County auditor.

In Amherst, independent James Pullin joins Democrats David Janik, Steven Mihalcik and Joe Miller and Republican Phil Van Treuren in the race for at-large City Council seats. Three of their number will be elected when voters go to the polls in the fall.
