Elyria Township man dies in single-car crash

ELYRIA TWP. — A township resident was killed in an accident near his home around 7:40 p.m. Wednesday, according to a news release from the Ohio Highway Patrol’s Elyria post.

Michael Lazorcak was westbound on Albrecht Road, west of West Ridge Road, when the 2000 Chevrolet he was driving veered right and struck a utility pole. Lazorcak, who wasn’t wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Alcohol is believed to have contributed to the crash, according to the patrol.

Lazorcak, 47, of the 44000 block of Albrecht Road, had previous convictions for speeding, following too closely and not wearing a seat belt, according to court records.
