Bonnie Jean Diedrick (nee Plas), 72, of Amherst, passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at her home, following a sudden illness. She was born September 21, 1940 in Elyria. Bonnie was raised in Elyria and graduated from Elyria Catholic High School, class of 1958. She made her home in Amherst for the last 47 years.

Bonnie focused her energies on being a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She cherished the time she was able to care for her children, especially Michael, who brought her much joy. Bonnie was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amherst. She was a valued supporter, along with her husband, of the church CYO league, aiding with many fundraisers. She was a member of the PTA at St. Joseph School. Bonnie was active with the child conservation league local chapter of Twig Benders. She was an avid Cleveland sports and Ohio State sport fan. One of her greatest joys was traveling to her children’s and grandchildren’s events. Her hobbies included camping with family, and creating ceramic keepsakes for friends and family. Bonnie was known to be a friend in deed to those in need.

Bonnie leaves to cherish her memory, her beloved husband of 54 years, Donald Robert Diedrick; her sons, Bryan Diedrick and his wife Noreen of Del City, Oklahoma, Michael Diedrick of Wellington, Eric Diedrick of Lake Orion, Michigan, Jason Diedrick and his wife Elizabeth of Amherst; daughters, Diane Diedrick of Elyria, Melissa Shuppe and her husband Michael of Kirtland; eight grandchildren; her brothers, Michael Plas and Barbara Dellefield of Amherst, John Plas of Springfield, Vermont, Jeffrey Plas of Lincoln, Nebraska, Martin Plas and his wife Carol of North Ridgeville, Scott Plas and his wife Kim of Amherst; her sisters, Gayle Loudermilk and her husband William of Renicks Valley, West Virgina, Jill McCoy of Mentor, Joyce Meyer and her husband Donald of Amherst, Deborah Kaminski and her husband Thomas of McCook, Nebraska, and Lauren Sabo and her husband Mark of Elyria.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Ann Plas (nee Meeks).

Friends may call Monday, May 13, 2013, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 P.M. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at 10 A.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 200 St. Joseph Dr., Amherst. The Rev. Fr. Lawrence Martello, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Amherst.
