CARLISLE TWP. — A Vermilion teenager was taken to a Cleveland hospital Saturday morning after he rolled his vehicle near Oberlin-Elyria Road, according to the State Highway Patrol.
Jesse Estep, 15, was traveling from a residence in Oberlin to Elyria about 7:30 a.m. to check on what time a scrap yard opened, according to Trooper Vernon Pickering.
Pickering said Estep was in the area of 42385 Oberlin-Elyria Road when he crossed the road’s center line several times, over-corrected and struck a culvert, overturning several times in the 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier he was driving. No other vehicles were involved in the crash, he said.
The Carlisle Township Fire Department took Estep to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland because weather prevented LifeFlight helicopters from flying, Pickering said. He was listed in good condition this morning, according to the hospital.
“He was coherent and knew were he was,” Pickering said.
Pickering added that no one else was in the vehicle with Estep and that alcohol is suspected as a factor in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation, and no charges have been filed yet, Pickering said.
