State fire marshal to investigate Lorain fire

LORAIN — The State Fire Marshal was called in to investigate what was deemed a suspicious fire Tuesday night in Lorain.

Lorain Assistant Fire Chief Dennis Livchak said firefighters were called at 11:35 p.m. to a fire on the first floor of a home at 1711 E. 30th St., which was determined to be vacant.

“We put out the fire pretty quickly,” Livchak said. “No utilities were hooked up, so it was an easy fire for us.”

Investigators ruled the fire suspicious, Livchak said, but he would not comment on the details, citing a pending investigation.

He said there appeared to be multiple points of origin, as well as signs from a previous fire in the home.

“Neighbors said they heard noises, but they didn’t see anyone,” he said.
