Sunday, May 19

6:20 p.m. — 500 block Denison Ave., Sabrina Bibby, 27, 600 block Denison Ave., cited for dog tags required, dog at large and noise disturbance. Bibby’s neighbor reported that a dog was running loose and had bitten a 13-year-old girl that lived on the street. Police found the dog, a tan collie, running down the sidewalk with a leash and determined that the dog belonged to Bibby. Police said Bibby did not have dog tags for the dog.

8:30 p.m. — 100 block West Ave., a man told police that he was in the woods below the river walk when he was pushed into the water by two men who then stole his bicycle. The bike was described as a BMX-style Mongoose brand boys’ bike, orange and silver with stars, a black seat, silver rims and a cable with key lock underneath the seat.

9:45 p.m. — 600 block Foster Ave., Hannah Barbee, 20, same address, issued a summons for disorderly conduct persisting. Police said Barbee insulted officers who were investigating a complaint of a reckless driver, who reportedly came from her house.

11:45 p.m. — 100 block David Drive, a woman reported that she was being harassed by a man she had dated. She said after one date, the man continued texting her and calling her names when she asked that he stop calling. Police called the man and told him to cease communications with the woman or he could be charged with telephone harassment.

Monday, May 20

2:47 p.m. — 600 block Middle Ave., a 17-year-old boy at Elyria High School was arrested and charged with inducing panic and making false alarms after schools officials told police the boy pulled the fire alarm. Police said security video captured the boy jumping against the alarm to set it off. The boy told police he didn’t mean to trigger the alarm, but he said he wanted to see if it would go off if he jumped against it.

3:34 p.m. — 100 block West Ave., a waitress at Hazel’s Restaurant reported that a customer who asked to be seated in her section made several inappropriate comments about penises and vaginas, and he told her he wanted to have a baby with her. The waitress said she stopped waiting on the man because she felt uncomfortable, and he returned later that day to leave her four books, a Bible and a card that read “to the bride and groom.”

4:45 p.m. — 100 block West Ave., a 13-year-old girl was arrested and charged with theft. The girl’s legal guardian told police she stole an iPod Touch from someone’s purse at church. She said the girl has been stealing “anything she can get her hands on” and had recently stolen money from teachers at school.

Friday, May 10

12:21 a.m. — 5000 block W. Erie Ave., a woman told police she was assaulted by her mother, 56-year-old Jean Snitch, who locked her inside a trailer with a padlock. Police said Snitch’s daughter had scratches on her neck and chest, and officers had to pry the door to the trailer open to get her out. Snitch was arrested and charged with domestic violence and unlawful restraint on Monday, according to court records.

Monday, May 20

9:07 p.m. — 4300 block Leavitt Road, a woman told police that someone stole $120 from her wallet, which she dropped in an aisle at Walmart. Police said the store’s security system was not working when the theft occurred.

1:05 p.m. — Tappan Square, tipster alerts police to a couple possibly using drugs while tending to an infant in a car seat. Police found two juveniles and the male was referred to juvenile court on cigarette, alcohol and marijuana charges.

Friday, May 10

10:35 p.m. — West College Street, owner of Gibson’s Food and Bakery, reported the theft of $2,000 to $2,500 from an office. The money was recovered and statements were provided after the owner said he was more interested in recovering the money than pressing charges against a suspect.

Sunday, May 12

9 a.m. — 100 block Elm St., resident reports theft of Easter flag and Peruvian flag. Whoever took the flags apparently left behind a girl’s bike.

9:09 p.m. — North Main Street, Jeremy R. Hartman, 40, of Sullivan, cited with driving under the influence and driving left of center.

Monday, May 13

4:51 p.m. — 100 block Sheila Drive, man finds a safe stolen in a burglary two months ago hidden under a pine tree with the lock broken.

8:20 p.m. — 100 block Dukes Ave., someone damaged a car in parking lot near the Wellington athletic field.
