Charles “Charlie” Kramar, 91, of Elyria, passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at EMH Healthcare, following a brief illness. He was born December 10, 1921 in Berno, Czech Republic, and was an Elyria resident since 1951.
Charlie worked as a tool and die maker at the former General Motors Fisher Guide Plant in Elyria for 27 years, retiring in 1986. He was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Elyria and the former Elyria Y.M.C.A. He was an avid scuba diver and was a member of the Bay Area Divers.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Eva (nee Keresztes); daughter, Shirley Beatty of Elizabeth City, North Carolina; son, Tony Kramar of Columbus, New Jersey; grandchildren, Christian, David, Russell, and Evelyn; and great granddaughter, Isla.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Ludmila Sykora.
The family will receive friends Friday, May 24 2013, 5 to 7 P.M., at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. Closing prayers will be Saturday, May 25, 2013, at 9:30 A.M., in the funeral home, followed by a 10 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial, at St. Agnes Church, 611 Lake Ave., Elyria. The Reverend Albert Veigas, Pastor, will be the Celebrant. Burial will be at Ridgehill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
