Firefighters rescue man from Oberlin creek

OBERLIN — Firefighters rescued a man from a creek Saturday after he said he was robbed, assaulted and thrown off a bridge.

The male, who Fire Chief Dennis Kirin didn’t have an age or a name for, was taken out of Plum Creek in the area of Main and Vine streets after the department was dispatched at 11:09 p.m. during a thunderstorm.

Residents of an apartment building apparently noticed him in the creek, said Kirin, who wasn’t sure how long he’d been in the water.

He was taken to Mercy Allen Medical Center, but Kirin didn’t have any information about his injuries.

Oberlin police didn’t immediately return a message requestion more information.
